John Williams headshot, composer (AP)John Williams conducts the Boston Pops Orchestra May 29 and 30, at Boston Symphony Hall. Evening at Pops with John Williams will be aired on PBS stations around the country beginning on August 3.
Gather together every talking robot, every lost child, every dinosaur and swashbuckling archeologist from your cinematic memory, and you have a pop culture cast that moves to the music, of pretty well just one man.

John Williams has composed the soundtrack for more than 80 films, and along the way won 42 Academy Award nominations, five Oscars, a pile of Golden Globes and Grammys.

But forget the awards; John Williams writes music that matches the silver screen so well, that unlike any other such artist, his music sticks. Star Wars, Harry Potter, Home Alone, Jaws - Williams success comes in part from his collaboration with director Steven Speilberg, but it is also Williams uncanny ear for what works.
