Module News Daily 0625A look at today's top news photos from around the world.
Call it a long-distance coup, or at least Washington's best shot at an overthrow. Israeli tanks rattled into Hebron again today, amid more shooting, deaths and arrests. Ariel Sharon says he's planning a new "massive" campaign against Hamas in Gaza. And yet.

And yet the dominant Middle East headlines today emanate still from yesterday, from the West Wing, from the Rose Garden. In the words of President George Bush, "Peace, requires a new and different Palestinian leadership." Bush thus becomes the only U.S. president through three decades of intermittent Mid-East fighting to publicly declare Yasser Arafat unfit to be included in conversations about peace.

A victory for Ariel Sharon, a setback for the PLO, perhaps a bold, or maybe risky, move by President Bush.
