There's lots about living and loving in the latest translation of the Kama Sutra. Really, there is. It's just that it's hard not to get distracted by the scissor, the wedge, the drill, the dagger and the blast of wind.

Here's one more twist. The Kama Sutra we've been reading for the past 120 years is misleading, in some places the English translation is downright wrong, taking the free-wheeling slippery fun of sex and cinching it into a corset of Victorian prudishness. Ouch.

Wendy Doniger's new translation unlaces a few other features of love in the 3rd century, revealing a greater level of gender equity in the planning and execution of seduction and carnal congress. Translation: girls had fun too!
