Amidst an ongoing exchange of tank invasions and suicide bombing, the latest Mideast news: a pair of Palestinian gunmen opened fire yesterday on a pastry shop, killing two female Israeli soldiers in Beersheba before they were themselves killed.

Hours later Israeli helicopters and jets swept across Gaza City blasting at the main security complex and a refugee camp, injuring dozens. Once again, the Holy Land is an ungodly mess.

Israelis and Palestinians are so far into this current cycle of death and revenge that it seems neither side has the will to check the violence. The political dialogue is exhausted, and it's against this bleak backdrop that a group of religious leaders is saying perhaps they have a solution.
