War on Terror. Pop Quiz: Who leads the Al-Qaeda network? Osama Bin Laden. Correct. Who speaks for the United States? George Bush. That's two. Who heads the Taliban? Mullah Mohammed Omar. Three right. And who speaks for American Muslims?
Tough call -- there is no one voice. There are many. They are the scholars, the political and community leaders, the Imams... Recent immigrants, life-long citizens, African-Americans.
Now they find themselves in an unusual position - explaining their faith to America, and America to the Muslim world. After September 11th - non-Muslim America is beginning to listen.
